Location of Archive Folder of Windows 10 Mail

Spent hours trying to find an answer; hopefully someone here can help! I want to be able to backup the archive folder for my Windows 10 mail to an external hard drive. Does anyone know where the archive folder for Windows 10 mail is located on the computer C: drive?

There is no Archive folder in the Windows 10 Mail App.
When using IMAP the Emails are basically on the Mail servers and Mail syncs with those.
What is actually on your HDD I have no idea.

Assuming IMAP then you have the option of saving individual Emails as an *.eml file and make your own archive folder in Documents or whatever. (3 dots > Save as)

If using POP they maybe stored as .eml files. No idea as I only use IMAP now.

Thanks for the reply Helmut, but now I'm even more confused. I definitely have an archive folder in my Windows 10 Mail app and the attached screenshot proves it. The emails I save to this archive folder are most assuredly being stored somewhere on my HDD. Wish I knew where...

No, kcs, the Archive folder is NOT stored on your HDD! It's another folder in your mail account on your ISP.

Another Win 10 Mail App stupidity

From the various past entries asking about the location of emails that are archived (you press the Archive icon in the toolbar when you have an email open) by Windows Mail, it appears that they disappear into an unreachable (at least I couldn't find it) place on your C:/ drive. What's more, even if you could find the archived email, it's not accessible from or by the Mail app. How smart is that, Microsoft? Why don't you just rename the Archive icon "vapouriser"?

You could just read the post directly above yours from a couple of months ago. As @gpstoloff said the archive folder (where you swipe things to on your phone for example) is just another IMAP folder that you can download or not as you require.

It isn't a secret, it isn't "hidden". If you really are confused try logging onto the web access and you'll see it there.

    Not a trick I promise :)

Thanks for trying to help, but I stand by my complaint. I'm using the Mail app in Windows 10, not Outlook. The Mail app doesn't have a folder called "Archive". Nor, when I go into my ISP's site and check my mail on webmail, does the ISP. So the unwanted and unannounced disappearing act becomes yet another one of Microsoft's "undocumented features".
