To me this has been kind of obvious. Edge is nothing more than IE in a new shape. IE has always been terrible and inferior to any decent browser out there. Edge comes from the same developer (MS) as IE thus it is more than likely that it suffers from the same shortcomings.

at this point, its even worse than IE ever was..I mean, you cant even email a link from it without copying, pasting, a link into your email program..some "modern" browser this is...I mean ISN'T...

While Edge is derived from IE's trident engine, it is significantly faster, and more standards compliant. It achieves this, however, by sacrificing backwards compatibility with non-standard compliant websites.

Edge is actually very on par with chrome and FF in terms of browser rendering support of standards, although it's a little behind in some emerging standards.

You can go to the Edge Status Page to see what is and isn't implemented. You can also see a breakdown here:

    http://html5test.com/results/desktop.html

We can see that edge is still at the bottom of the pack, but that is deceptive. While IE had lots of quirky behavior, Edge does not. When it implements a standard, it implements it correctly. The difference in features is that Edge doesn't implement all the latest emerging standards.

irregardless of how it ranks against any other browser, or how it implements any standards, I bet if you poll 100 users here as to what is their default browser at this point, there wouldnt be more than 10 or 15 using Edge..
I tried to use it several times over the last couple of months, but its just lame at implementing the things I use a browser for..

Hopefully it gets better down the road, as it is super fast, I will give you that, but, for power users, at this point, it doenst cut it..

Just very very curious ... i think there are whole lot of GENIUS at MS ... why can't they see this ...???
    did they even tested ..???
    OR they don't give a darm ...
I can guaranty .. most of MS employees using Chrome at home .... If not ..they are just incompetent ..

I was responding to the claim that Edge was just IE in a different skin, and had all the same rendering and standards problems of IE. It's not, and it doesn't.

You are complaining about things that have nothing to do with its primary function... to render HTML content. While these are important too, they are nothing if the base renderer isn't solid, and that's what MS has been focusing on.

Yes, I feel it's fair to say that it wasn't ready to be released as the default browser, but apparently it was more important to put IE in the past. I am waiting for extension support to be implemented and essential extensions, such as LastPass and Adblock PLus, etc, to become available. Then we'll see how Edge compares with Firefox and Chrome, etc.

What I absolutely dislike about Edge, is no matter how often, I attempt to set the forums default to WYSIWYG and SAVE IT, it defaults back to Standard Editor. I spend a lot of time here, and get tired of having to click A/A to write a post, so I prefer IE11.

    it is significantly faster,
And Mystere on this one I must disagree with you(although the cause of it being a tad slower than IE could be, that I'm not using it enough, so it's cache and temp files are not built up enough(I almost never delete these, except when having browser ´problems)). But rendering is much better in any case. Picture quality is tops

But like I said :No WYSIWYG>>>No use to me!

no one uses a browser anymore based on how it handles its "primary function"...
it has to be adept at doing all or most of the things that folks use a browser for now a days, and, at this point, Edge is NOT adept at most of those things..
