    What I need in Edge: Decent extensions and a way to stop videos auto-playing along with click to play per element. Mostly I don't use Edge. There's no perfect browser. If it existed we would all be using it. I've been known to have 10 or more browsers (installed or portable) for various reasons.

    Unlike 8.1, these days we have feedback hub so if you have suggestions, maybe they'l add them.
    You really believe that MS will do anything about EDGE that is sent by a user? The key word is "Maybe"

    Hi,
    I suppose Palemoon is my favorite but have been using Firefox on my local newpaper website because it stops the site from auto refreshing the site has bad traits when it refreshes.

    Edge is just IE12 and MSFT have always been terrible at making browsers that conform to the standards that all the other ones do.
    I totally Agree.

    Indeed and that is exactly what I have done primarily the Mail App which I use a awful lot more than Edge but the UWP Appsy nature is applicable to both.
    It is not just me that has pointed this out before, many have done so, for some time, but it all seems to fall on deaf ears.

    MS appears to have taken the route of having UWP appsy stuff. A small proportion of users admittedly do actually like such Apps but a lot more want half decent desktop Applications designed with a degree of common sense, not some vacuous designer philosophy.

    Many addons and apps (from download managers to adblockers) now appear across several browsers, and the top ones are relatively fast in terms of rendering, etc. Given that, I think Edge is the best in terms of speed and Firefox in terms of privacy tweaks.

    I think the ideal browser has the ff. characteristics, among others:

    - open source;

    - updated regularly or, if a fork, based on the latest version (which can be challenging if there are only a few programmers working on the fork);

    - anti-privacy stripped off (which is why forks are made) or can be disabled easily;

    - can use the widest variety of addons (from those that save pages as single files to those that clean URLs from searches) and can use top download managers and desktop adblockers (usually not a problem);

    - has an interface that can be tweaked and preferably can be customized easily (i.e., with a GUI customizer or incorporated in the browser settings), such as using themes on parts or the whole browser, including dark mode, adding several toolbars above, in bottom status bars, or in vertical bars, with the option to configure keyboard shortcuts, tab behavior (etc., don't detach tabs, don't close the browser when the last tab is closed, etc.), etc., and with or without having to use addons; and

    - if it needs to use more memory and other resources, do so to make it fast, and then release resources cleanly when no longer used, with tweaks so that it won't use resources unnecessarily (like SSDs and session storage).
