Try assigning MAILTO as per my screenshot #25. If you have Thunderbird, see if the mail recipient works with Tbird set as default.
Having created a shortcut on the desktop, added to my sendto folders (found two) however it does not appear when I right click?

@Jimmyb- you are using Outlook. Unfortunately there are two users with somewhat different issues in the same thread.

I have no experience of using Outlook personally. Here are command line params for Outlook:
    Command line switches for Outlook 365, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010 and previous - HowTo-Outlook
You need to create the shortcut to outlook.exe as it says in this.

    Note in particular:
    Tip 1!
To create a shortcut that creates a new message, follow the above instructions but instead of typing /select outlook:calendar use /c ipm.note.

    Tip 2!
You can also create a Send To shortcut for Outlook which has the /a switch. This allows you to select files in Explorer and use the Send To-> Mail Recipient feature to create a new message with the selected files as attachments while also adding your signature and not blocking Outlook. For details see: Send To Mail Recipient in HTML and with Signature.

    So had a play:

As you can see the outlook shortcut is in the sendto folder

Size:	56.6 KB

But not on the sendto menu

I did duplicate some items in the Sendto folder to ensure it was the correct folder and they appeared.

    Next, the Mail recipient properties:

Name:	image.png
Views:	15
Size:	14.2 KB
ID:	227051

Opens with: Unknown, so thought I would add outlook:

Name:	image.png
Views:	1
Size:	43.7 KB
ID:	227054

    Navigate to Outlook and....

Name:	image.png
Views:	15
Size:	4.4 KB

    Failed

Followed the instructions at post #42 about and outlook open but with the following error message:

Size:	2.7 KB

Hi, Outlook shortcut - how did you create that? Directly from the outlook.exe file, rather than start menu shortcuts?

Have a look at its properties..

Hi, only another Outlook user could advise further. Tip 2 (above) refers to adding the file you've rt clicked as an attachment- which is how Thunderbird behaves)

Mail Recipient: Unknown application is correct.

If you follow Edwin's post on fixing the mail recipient (you need to run the downloaded exe to fix it in compatibility mode) it should restore it. (I just did that successfully in inadvertently assigning it to Notepad).

But it seems you didn't assign it, so no change would have been made- nothing to do.

Outlook: slightly older post on Win 10:
SendTo Mail Recipient not working after Windows 10 Creator July 2017 update

    Note:
    To Fix...

Ensure Outlook is set as the default Mail client
    Close Outlook
For 32 bit versions of Outlook...
    Delete Msmapi32.dll located C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\system\MSMAPI\1033\
For 64 bit versions of Outlook... (I think this is the right path??)
    Delete Msmapi32.dll located C:\Program Files\Common Files\system\MSMAPI\1033\
    Run fixmapi.exe
Open Outlook (Outlook will replace & register the Msmapi32.dll and then open).
Try the "Send To > Mail Recipient" again.

    just one instance found

    closed outlook
    Renamed file .old
    Ran fixmapi.exe
Opened outlook unstable, closed and set to default as advised by pop-up
Opened outlook still unstable, no new file had appeared, closed outlook
Renamed file, opened outlook, works as previously, i.e. issue still there but stable.
