Try about:config then search for browser.search.defaultenginename

    Change string value to Google
Was already Google, it's one of the values I changed yesterday, although it hadn't stopped Firefox from reverting to Bing.

Also try the Mycroft Plugins. Choose the google search engine that you require and add it using the option to set as default.

Mycroft Project: Encrypted Search Engine Plugins - Firefox IE Chrome

    Attachment 171607
Done, restarted Firefox, Bing came right back.

Try creating a second profile. Close FF then press [Winkey+R] to open the run dialog box then type

    firefox.exe -P

In the window that opens create a new profile but uncheck the option to use at startup. Launch FF and test to see if you get the same problem.

Security software might also cause the problem like in this post:

If that doesn't work try running ZHP Cleaner. Instructions as per this post:

Well if you create a new profile and still get the problem I reckon it's time to clean install Firefox but it's your call.

Some firefox problems - Page 10 - Windows 10 Forums

If you go down that route don't leave any trace of Firefox of you Firefox profile on your machine before rebooting and installing a fresh copy.

Other option to test. Grab a copy of this:

    Hekasoft Backup & Restore Download

Use it to backup your current FF Profile.

Then download a copy of my profile backup - see attached. Unzip to a new folder on your desktop. Run Hekasoft Backup & Restore and restore to my profile (the file you unzipped) and see if you still get the problem.

I loaded yours, which had several search engines. I deleted them all, reset to Google and then restarted Firefox. It had reset to Bing.
