Yep, thought that "non Asus Validated" bios might be the issue. Went back to the previous bios and getting "valid scores".
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-6700K,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA
Yes dude I will change my computer specs.
Thanks dude. So being an owner of both a 1080 and now a 1080TI I even more agree with Steve Burke (Gamers Nexus) that all these GPU's (especially 1080 TI) perform the same, well except for maybe worf's. :)
I haven't brought this GPU to its limits but I can see it will clock up to 2050-2065 and only be hitting temps of 63C with full fans. Pascal and GPU Boost 3.0. No wonder Steve Burke and essenbe are so bored. . These GPU's are sweet gaming cards though.
@specialkone, if you want to have fun run Unigine Valley. You can overclock in that test higher than any benchmark I have run.
OK thank you, essenbe. Hey, I don't think I even have that benchmark. Thanks for the link.
Essenbe I need your help. Was keeping all this quiet from the nephews until I decided whether to RMA the FTW 1080. Unfortunately nephews popped over this am and the Asus Rog 1080TI RGB (very nice actually) was shining in their faces. You can imagine the excited and impatient conversation after that with them saying 82C is still within specs and me saying it's 10C higher than before and climbing, and it's not just ROTTR anymore. And that's with fans at 90%. Something is wrong. Also told them I talked to EVGA again for 45 minutes. Even they said something is happening (maybe thermal paste) and safest to RMA. They will do extended testing on the replacement before it ships. Man, EVGA's support is great.
So better IMHO for the nephews to wait 2 weeks or so and be sure there's nothing wrong with the FTW 1080 I hand over to them. Best move, don't you think?
@specialkone, Absolutely, I agree. If it is running that hot and getting worse, you have no other options other than do it yourself, which I wouldn't. That's what the warranty is for. @Dude will appreciate this. Tell them that now they have something to look forward to.
I really don't see what other reasonable options you have. Besides, it's still your card and you can do whatever you want with it. Your decision, and you are making the right one.
