Across the net, the average is 4.7 sometimes 4.8 so you're doing really well
With mine, it seems I was extremely lucky, but I also did a lot of research on overclocking, and asked Steve & Doug tons of questions, and advice.
I only used Steve .....actually that is why I bought the Asus MB ....could be my memory, (just a guess) maybe should have bought higher rated set. My boot time is 22 sec's now. But ....there could be a setting that I am not tweaking exactly right too. Just going to leave it for now.....might play some more later.

Mike, did you go by the OC Guide? Skylake Overclocking Guide [With Statistics]

Sometimes, we are all limited by the "Silicon Lottery", Some CPUs overclock way better than others. It's just a fact of life.

Yeah I read a little of it Steve .....some of those settings I was already there. I've never been able to run at x48 since building this puter. 47 has been rock solid.

Have you been tweaking your CPU cache ratio too, Mike?
I found in my research it won't make the CPU faster, but it may, help you get a higher overclock, multiplier and/or through raising the BCLK.
It helped me break the 4.9 mark.
Just set it to 300MHz less than the multiplier you wish to use, no more.
In my case I have a 49x multiplier @ 100.500BCLK and my CPU cache ratio is 46

Soon as Asus puts my bios update from Beta to release, I might upgrade it. The main change in this new update for my MB is to be able to run the new Kaby Lake ....but its still in Beta at the moment.

Yes Cliff, my cache ratio is set at 46 with min at 8. Been that way for long time.
    I'll grab a pic...

For the overclock CPU 48x Cache ratio set to 45 turn off any auto or offset stuff.

Can't go over 3000MHz with my DDR4 memory. Already tried that....That was a really bad idea for me.

I didn't mean follow it to the "T", I meant to learn about what cache ratio is/does.
Even with 3000MHz memory, there can be a bottleneck, and increasing cache ratio releaves that, so the CPU can better communicate with the hardware and the rest of your system, hence, possibly fix a boot problem.

Cache frequency has very little impact on CPU performance, but can have a noticeable effect at higher memory frequencies by improving latency results.

Memory frequency has an obvious impact on the performance of memory bandwidth and latency. CPU performance benefits a lot at lower CPU frequency ranges from increasing memory frequency, and this effect is reduced as CPU frequency increases perhaps because 3.2GHz memory frequency is enough to remove any bottlenecks from stock memory frequency (2133MHz).
