Where is your voltage at right now i am sitting between 1.44-1.46 in offset mode Level one LLC with Core catch at 46
Interesting, almost using your same specs Tommy. Level 2 LLC Core Catch at 46 now. My vcore changes between 1.760 and 3.168 in offset mode also. Took a pic ....

Well guess what, just changed it to 48 rebooted, and it booted right back into Windows ....1st time it ever made it. Going to run a stress test.

Update, stress test failed. Back to 4.7 GHz

Your max is 1.5 volts that is hella high the Vcore on the bottom is allowed voltage or the LOAD LINE VOLTAGE

I am not to sure of this but i am thinking that is what it is because those numbers would of fried something already lol

have you used hardware monitor or CPUZ to see the actual top off voltage you use when stressing because you may have it cranked to high

One core, hyperthreading turned off, froze on the first boot after BIOS made changes, but no problem after second boot:

    I just had a really bad scare!Official OC Leaderboard-afraid_frightened_scared_smiley_emoticon1.gif

After I turned the three cores off, and ran my last validation, I wanted to boot back into BIOS, but it showed a blank screen!Official OC Leaderboard-big-eyes-smiley.gif

I tried both MSI Fast Boot and delete spamming, but it was always black.

Turned the system off, turned the power switch off, held the start button for a while, no help....Official OC Leaderboard-thfaint.gif
Note: I had no problem booting into Windows with the single OC'd core, just couldn't get into BIOS, I though maybe a CMOS corruption, as I had made many changes at once, and that has happened before, but I could get back into BIOS and set the last good configuration.

Needed a CMOS jumper, so went to the store where I got my machine and buy parts, but they didn't have a jumper or sell them, so he recommended, just take the battery out(a PITA on my setup)... (I left my machine unplugged during this time)

I then went grocery shopping before coming home, turned on the machine so I could get my updated BIOS to flash after resetting, for the hell of it, I spammed delete, and....

It went into BIOS!!!Official OC Leaderboard-hand-clap-smiley-emoticon.gif

Question: If I ever need to, can I just short the jumper pins with a small screwdriver, or is it safer/better to just take out the CMOS battery even though that's a real pain in the butt

Yeah, just shorting pins for a second or two should do it. There's nothing special about that jumper, it just shorts two pins. Due to extensive trying with settings I went even one step further, took a momentary switch for Start or Reset buttons and connected it to CMOS reset pins. All I have to do is to press it. Those pins on my MB are right under GPU and not easily accessible.

    Looking good @AddRAM

I found out, for my system, to do my overclocks on the 6700K, stepwise, run them for a week with EIST(speedstepping) and C-State turned on after finding a stabile clock setting, for validation though, I throw caution somewhat into the wind, as I have thermal monitoring turned on in BIOS, so nothing can fry my chip. It'll either boot, freeze the system, throttle, or just BSOD, and with luck like today... run:)

Thanks Count, mine is in the same place too, the idea of building a switch, sounds good:)
