Is this benchmark scores normal for SATA 2?

    Hi,

I know that I'm using an outdated system by today's standards (Gigabyte P55A-UD3P) which contains an outdated Marvel chipset for SATA 3. According to many forum advices I read, I preferred to hook up my 500 GB Samsung Evo 850 SSD drive I bought in 2015 to a SATA 2 connector but are these benchmark scores normal for this setup? Is there anyway to get higher numbers than these?

You need to connect the 850 EVO to a Sata 3 port to take full advantage of its speed.

Which should be twice as much as you are getting now.

Simple answer is yes, SATA II limited to about ~300 MB/s(3 Gbits/s) max, SATA III ~600 MB/s(6 Gbits/s) max.
