    external drive or cloud

I have some family photos in the Onedrive cloud.
For security reasons, I would prefer to keep them locally.
I have a WD eternal drive that has backups of my OS.
Can I place a folder of the photos on that drive in or will that disturb the Macrium imaging backup and recovery process?

As long as there is byte-space available, full images and folders and files can go onto that hard-drive.

For very important data that can't be replaced, I recommend putting two hard drives (or more) into a USB or NAS enclosure that supports RAID. RAID 1 will keep the two drives inside the enclosure mirrored with each other so the failure of one drive will not cause you to lose your data. You would swap out the bad drive with a new one and the remaining drive will automatically get mirrored to the new drive.

Of course a major disaster such as a fire is still going to destroy both drives and you will lose what you don't have stored off-site.

    Photos

I neglected to state my level..
That information is appreciated but too difficult.
I do have the images on two separate drives however.

That is what NavyLCDR is stating. If the data is important, you need to keep multiple copies and the more the merrier !

I use Google drive with 100gb of storage for $19.95 per year to store my most important photos, videos, documents, and programs on.

I did not care for Google drive but thank you. I am still cautious of a cloud with items I would not want to have viewed.
