Reason for delay in Macrium Reflect Free V7

Just seen this on Macrium Forum. Mind you it might as well have been written in High Vulcan for all I understand it - LOL.

What is interesting is implication that they are going to jump to 7.1 directly with free version?

Apologies for the delay. Macrium Reflect v7.1 (including the Free Edition) is still undergoing thorough testing will be released when we are satisfied. The delay was caused by increasing the scope of Macrium Image Guardian to cater for protected volumes accessed over the network and the technical challenge of improving viBoot by designing and implementing our own virtual disk provider for MS .VHDX files. Given the increased technical complexity we are performing additional in-depth testing.

    Thanks for your patience

    Kind Regards

Macrium Image Guardian: Macrium Image Guardian - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase

Macrium Image Guardian protects your backup files from unauthorized modification.
MIG only grants write access to Macrium Reflect 7.1 and any image tools created by us. All other process will be denied write access.
MIG protects local NTFS volumes and allows Macrium Reflect 7.1 and later to use the protected volume as a shared network resource.
To protect against malware and ransomware I suppose, so they want to make sure it works right.

our own virtual disk provider for MS .VHDX:
same here, if Windows gets compromised.

These will be good for people, who don't make backups to an external disk(or an internal that they can take offline).

I make a total system image(all 3 SSDs) after version upgrades, but make all other images after major software updates, after patch Tuesday, or before I decide to muck around in the system.

Ah - it is only in normal Vulcan now rather than High Vulcan.
With GIB, the files will live long and prosper .

So does my v.6 free edition, I mean it does exactly what I need it for(a complete disk image with verification, no bells, no whistles, and no incremental/differential).

Yeah - I am not really sure what V7 brings to the table in the Free version. It seems MS have decided MRF V7.1 will be released when V7 MRH etc is released i.e. no V7.0.

Oh well, I haven't tried or played around with viBoot yet, so when the free 7 version comes out, maybe I'll give it a spin.
Might be interesting to just update/upgrade my Windows system image for my 3rd pc that's stored away, without having to pull the actual PC out every time I decide to finally do it.
