what is the ideal size to save restore point?

as seen in this image, mine is set to save with this size limit. should i increase it? i ask because few weeks ago when i tried to use restore option to revert to time when pc was working fine, and got error message and said it couldnt use it...maybe because the size i set wasnt enough to save restore point?

i need to do it properly. ive decided to use external hard drive to save restore points becuase it has more memory than main drive.

Hi, the size of the space you allocate limits the number of restore points kept, as you will know.
I allocated 6.85Gb, and that seems 75% used by 8 restore points.

You may also have noticed some threads here about using restore points, and the various failures encountered in doing so. The error number reported is what you need, then you can search for that number for a possible explanation.

There is a huge thread here with a fix (and it's supposedly solved in the Creator's build after an update, if I recall correctly) for 80070091, for example.

The first- suggests you are saving system images to that drive- which seems a bad idea if it's an internal drive.

The second- that seems a very small amount of usage- at a guess, you've no restore points.
