If you really want to get adventurous you could put a boot partition on your Seagate external drive, boot your computer from that and run Macrium Reflect rescue from it :-).

The problem is NOT THE SEAGATE DRIVE!!!!!!!! The permanently installed internal hard drive is failing with increasing numbers of bad sectors.

No Holly, just keep using the same usb stick for your Macrium, and just keep it updated.
Also make sure you can boot from it too.

I was asking if I bought the correct drive off Amazon NavyLCDR. As someone said it's for a desktop computer. ButI read some reviews. All is fine. I didn't understand why it wouldn't be for a laptop when it's 2.5 " .

Can I not boot from Macrium Flash drive and do it with Windows 10 installation DVD?

I just thought of something don't know if it's possible. But could I restore my niece or nephew's backup to my new hard drive and change Windows 10 key to my own?

I said that because if you look at the review in post 88 in the top right corner it says 3.5 inch drive.

That was not directed at you, holly. That was directed at a post previous to my reply by daikbinhlc which has since been removed because it looks like they got banned.

Yes. But if they had any programs/apps installed that they purchased licenses for you would, in essence, be pirating their programs/apps - at least until you uninstalled them.
