That's good to know. The part that caught my eye in that link was this: "Windows requires a Master Boot Record (MBR) however some USB sticks are shipped without one and with just a single partition" That's why I thought I needed some particular flash drive.
@reelme when you get down to this step, you should have your blank flash drive already inserted so it will see it. Just choose the flash drive from the list and Macrium will do the rest.

Next Problem. I bought a WD My Passport 1TB external hard drive. I am using Windows 10 on a brand new Lenovo desktop. The hard drive works well but in File Explorer the eject icon is just shadowed and not clickable. There is an eject feature down at the bottom of the screen in hidden icons. When I click eject there, a few seconds later i get a message that it is unable to eject the drive. In device manager, I can see that the drive is set for "quick removal" so it should not need ejecting, and yet I still get this message. Doesn't make me feel too comfortable about any data on the drive. What to do???

That is normal behaviour for any USB HDD. It is not classed as removable media so you can't eject in File Explorer.

There is an eject feature down at the bottom of the screen in hidden icons....
Move it to the taskbar, you'll need it.

This means that a process has the disk in use, close any apps that may be using it. If you have Task Manager open that can prevent ejecting it because the drive is being monitored on its Performance tab. Try turning off indexing for that drive.

Turned off indexing, that didn't help. I did go into Mcafee Anti Virus and selected "ask me" to scan external drives to off, or something to that extent. That seemed to work, so it must have been the anti virus accessing the drive. I will try it a few times today to make sure. Thanks.

Before buying this machine I seriously considered an Apple, but being the cheapskate that I am I went for Windows. My buddy with a Mac laughs at me all the time because he doesn't have any of these bizarre Windows issues. Oh well, at least I have some cash left over......

@reelme , Quick Removal will not give you all the speed you can get from the drive. It will not have Write Caching enabled. That's why you don't see the EJECT option, it's not needed. With the drive attached, go into Disk Management (right click start button), click on the drive where I have the green circle and you will get a properties screen. Click POLICIES and tick the options I have in RED. Click ok. Wait for the screen to refresh and exit Disk Management. You should now get the full speed of the drive and the EJECT option in the taskbar icon.

You know, I did see that but didn't follow all the way through. When I did like you said it wanted me to reboot, but wasn't sure I should do this with the external attached in case it didn't want to boot again.

@reelme Yes, sometimes it will ask for a reboot. That's fine. It needs to set the cache on startup. Go ahead.

Got it, thanks again. By the way, did you fly F14's?

No. Biggest plane was a Beach 99 Twin turboprop.
