    Hi,

An online upgrade, to me, would be to go to the Windows 10 software website and click the "Upgrade Now" button - which would just, basically, download what he has already.
Sure, I probably didn't express myself clearly.
Online, in the sense I meant it, refers to the system being in a running state as opposed to when it is inactive (hence offline) when you do clean install booting off of install media.

Good points. I'm downloading the v1607 now and after that I hope I'll have everything I need to try again. Let me re-cap the original situation issues.

1- Unknown developing bad sectors (10) corrupted some system files on my local C: drive with upgraded Win 7 Ultimate to Win 10 Pro 64, now v1511. I cloned the bad drive to a new drive and swapped it in.
2- The new clone works ok, however Windows Update fails. SFC verifyonly and scannow confirm there are corrupted files which it can't completely fix. My attempts to perform Windows 10 repair-intall via download burned to disk fails at 30% completion.
3- A clean install of Windows 10 Pro with re-install of all software is absolute last resort solution as this will set me back months due to the time required. The goal here is the fix the corrupted system files while in-place.

4- I forgot to mention I also tried to install the downloaded files of the cumulative update for v1511 as well as the update to the v1607 Anniversary Update, which both failed.

I just now got a Windows alert that my C: drive is running out of space, so I cleaned out about 20GB but haven't yet deleted the latest downloads during this fix work. I now have 18GB of free space. Something happened during this deletion that interrupted the v1607 download, so I started it over again. Persistence and teamwork will win this battle ...

Sure, but didn't you say you'd already downloaded 1607 ?

Yes. However I'm not exactly sure what I downloaded as to v1511 since the links' page wasn't clear and the file label just says Windows.iso. NavyLCDR provided a specific link, knowing what I need, and the label is more specific Win10_1511_English_x64.iso . Were going to fix v1511 first.

Up to you but it doesn't make any sense to me.

The other v1511 download didn't include the necessary install.wim file. This download might, as I understand it.

Download of Win10_1511_English_x64.iso complete (3,922,852KB). I mounted it and install.wim (3,426,111KB) is included in the Sources folder. It's now in a download folder.

From where we left off, I have in C:\ the ImageHealth.cmd file, also the "Source" folder which contains install.wim and windows.iso files as well as "Mount" folder which is empty.

Should I clean any of this out or keep it? What exactly do I do now with Win10_1511_English_x64.iso to fix the corrupted files?

First question: I would delete all that extra stuff.

    Second question: See post #44:

Yes, the file name for the ISO file is different - use the v1511 ISO file.
