[QUOTE=Eagle51;951891]My 'Get Office" app fix for System Restore ... USE AT YOUR OWN RISK ...
After reading ALL the threads on the resolving the restore problem. (which I used to get the restore working)
Question for Eagle51...
Once the restore is finished and working. It installs "My Office" app and we have to start all over again?
because we needed to del "My Office" app right away ? plus the WindowsApps directories for "My Office" app?
I haven't tried the restore yet but I did see "My Office" app and seen the uninstall prompt. (didn't uninstall yet) So, is it a combination of the KB3213986 and the "My Office" app problem. ? Thanks for posting great info (plus previous peeps)
Hey TonySaprano,
Yes, If you do a System Restore to a date before you did the fix, then the Get Office would get put back and you'd have to remove again. It shouldn't get re-installed for any future Restore Points that you create and use.Once the restore is finished and working. It installs "My Office" app and we have to start all over again?

Note: Since the Get Office app is a built-in app, if you were to add a new user after you did the fix ... it will get re-installed. It could also get re-installed on a CU, but don't quote me on that :)
The commands I posted for (My 'Get Office' app fix for System Restore) removes the Get Office app for you.I haven't tried the restore yet but I did see "My Office" app and seen the uninstall prompt. (didn't uninstall yet)
For lack of a better explanation, it appears the KB3213986 caused the System Restore issue and the Get Office app exposed the issue. So, is it a combination of the KB3213986 and the "My Office" app problem.
Eagle51:- The problem exists without KB3213986. See my previous post. New Windows install no updates.
SF409 and Bree. I'm not sure if anything did updates but I will check and report back to you. The system WiFi took a bit to get going and was mainly not connected to the internet at all prior to my downloading Chrome and running the trial of System Restore. Mind you, as soon as it is connected Windows notifications tells you it is "just fixing a few things up".
So here is the exported Updates.txt from Reliability Monitor. Sorry I didn't get to it yesterday.
The system has been turned off so there isn't a lot to go through.
As soon as Wifi connected there was a successful Windows Update @ T14:21

So for about 8 minutes. I was unaware.
The system appeared to update all Apps including Get Office.
I started the failed System Restore after T14:30 and the Undo Restore Point was created at T14:41.
You will see that I then did Update Check at T14:54 and allowed the updates to process.
SimonFastEddy is back after some sleep and a little thought. Hi SoFine409 ....
I want to throw an idea your way....Have you tested your Anti-virus for culpability. I have been testing a clean healthy system image (Taken just after Hi There...Getting things ready..Lock Screen). Whereas I can do numerous settings changes with no AppxStaging issues, as soon as I install Avira the AppxStaging error (........91) appears. My church organist with his ACER computers used McAfee with same outcome. A while back I SLOWLY installed all my OS and applications plus settings changes etc. At the very end I installed Avira and it was then that AppxStaging broke the restore.
Do you think that it may be a bad conflict between the Windows 10 OS and anti-virus software. Way back (September 2016) Cortana broke with CCleaner, WinUtilities and Privazer and that was fixed after a brief discussion and testing assisted by Piriform advising. I suspect same cause.....files/directory not closed and breaking. Duff OS!
Any thoughts?
Best wishes from Simon.
It can break with no AV installed. Not related to AV. AV interference is a different error ID.
