I experimented with Macrium. CLONED/IMAGED the OS drive to a Larger HDD. Then expanded the C: Partition to full size of that HDD.
I then CLONED/IMAGED from the larger HDD to the smaller HDD. Success. Bootable.
At least Macrium uses Cloning and Imaging as two distinct processes but most people don't understand the difference until they use the program.

Hi there
I rest my Case !!!!!!
Actually with VR and Robotics becoming much more mainstream these days people should certainly be well aware of the difference between imaging and cloning -- but I believe the OP has solved the issue and moved the OS to a smaller HDD/SSD/Partition.

Hi there
@fjk61011
I think I've learnt over the years - never ever argue Literature etc with anybody from "The Emerald Isle" -- You'll always Lose !!!.
Great place though the Republic -- always have a great time there - even if it does cost me more than a few EUR !! - and of course what about the famous exports of those great Irish Bars (even if some are constructed in Hong Kong etc) !!!!
I remember a famous one in Brussels (more than a few by the way over there) when the Irish Ambassador performed the opening ceremony -- that's a SENSIBLE thing for Ambassadors to perform !!
O'Reilly's - Just near the Brussels Stock exchange.

Great DECENT Guinness and Irish Stew in that place !!!!
