This bug refers to the inability to browse the backup file using the Rescue Media created with the latest version of Macrium Reflect (6.1.1366). There is no issue with creating the image or verifying the image that is created. I was the one who posted the issue. Has the OP tried to contact Macrium for assistance?

    Axe0,

It's a good option. There is nothing to see anywhere. Then again, when I did the initial recovery I was surprised, as the date I got back wasn't listed. Thank you.

    Slartybart,

I don't have UEFI and I don't have that build. Thank you.

    1. Axe0 requested that you scroll down the Macrium Reflect log that has the error indicator and post the rest of the log so that the actual error could be displayed. You only displayed the top part. That would give him a little more information as to what Macrium had a problem with. The files you attached in the first post are duplicates of the VSS log. You need the primary backup log which will contain the error.

    2. Your screen prints indicate that you do have the latest build (v6.1.1366) which has an issue with browsing a backup image with the Rescue Media, but that should have no affect on taking backups.

Thanks -- No UEFI - no issue

johnpd also clarified he exact bug and stated that it does not apply to the issue on your machine.

    Great catch, Slartybart.

I thought you were talking about the Windows build.

O MY. O expletive, expletive, expletive. It's my first backup outside of Windows (except for a poorly maintained SyncToy).

I'll read Nick from Macrium, but I've been trying to get back here since YESTERDAY.

    Johnpd may be wrong.

    +++++++++++++++++

    (See above and below.)

    Johnpd -

I couldn't verify the disk by viewing it in my account, prior to Restore /NOT through the Rescue disk. That came later.

I don't have a Boot w/UEFI option (it's an older computer) and I did not have Safe Boot enabled.

Let's see if there are more tragedies I can remember from yesterday. It was a 14-hour recovery back to square one, except my printer seems to be working better - maybe.

    FACTS:
Beginning Friday, I worked on backups in preparation of a final recovery. I created a system image and bootable disk w/image.

Once inside Rescue PE, where I really had no way out (Trust me on this) this is what happened:
I tried to restore from image. Message came back that I had no images. I couldn't point to one in any hard drive, either.

After not being able to call up an image, there was a whole lot of crap. In trying to restore computer, I had nothing on my backup disk with image, either.
Supposedly, both actions were completed (verified).

As far as what I can SEE in my backup FILES now?
I'm just getting to that now.
I saved my Outlook files into Macrium just for the helluvit - but I haven't done a thorough search, yet.

    N O T O P T I M I S T I C.

    Johnpd,

I cannot seem to browse outside of Rescue Disk and out of safe mode.
    Explained on next page.

    Thank you.

    JohnD,

The initial post (1) contains the only log, as far as I remember. I had four or so logs with 611 items, all with the same data. Not from Windows (per se).

The picture was a snapshot of my account - not a partial log,
I have to go back and if there's more to see, I'll post it. I don't think I left a thing behind.

    Thank you.

If you look at post #10 where you posted a screen print of the log display, you have the primary log highlighted. This is the line with the red "X" indicator. You only displayed the top of that log. You need to give us the rest of that log where the error will be displayed. If the backup failed to complete, there will most likely be no image to restore.

I take your word for it. As it happens/ened, I reinstalled Win 10 another six or so times. I had no (nor do I currently have) access to the old data or logs. I am sure I didn't save those - but if I did, that was so long ago. (I know it's not, but you have no idea.)

Each time, I wiped everything out of my computer. At this late date, I am relatively certain that in my hour of crisis and need, Macrium failed me. I wrote to them, with a link to read the events here as they unfolded. Come to think of it, nobody ever contacted me. Simply swell.

I assume I'll try their competitor. In this biz, there is little worse than being a great girl scout and then having no opportunities for salvation when trying to restore my data. In spite of redundancies, nothing went right. Not only that; everything went wrong.

At least I think the storm might soon pass and I'll be good for another few years.

    Thank you.
