Hi,

Hi,

Cheers,
Frank,
I was following the flow. I guess Bill thinks there is a problem with it, isn't that correct?

Hi Nick,
No idea. We'll have to wait for Bill for an answer on that I guess.
Normally new versions of bios are released to fix problems with previous ones.
Cheers,
Well guys,
I don't have a clue on what your up to doing, and I hope its showing me a way to get the data, programs, and keys that I lost that proprietary to the hard drive. I been doing everything and I am so woozy that my head is reeling.
I know there are certain step that have to be taken so as to get drives in line, that was as much of a surprise to me as you guys, but I think it is corrected. I'm to scared to reboot for fear that they will mess up again. I still haven't plugged in the card reader again, to scarred too.

Hi,
No need to be scared, Nick.I'm to scared to reboot for fear that they will mess up again. I still haven't plugged in the card reader again, to scarred too.
I'd actually would like you to reboot the machine a couple of times so we know for sure the problem is fixed or...not.
Cheers,
Which one is newer?
Version Date 5.05 8/03/2009 5.08 7/21/2009
Only 5.05 was offered on HP for the machine I linked.
The description danced around some of the anomalies we're seen with drives.
Since only 5.05 was offered, I questioned 5.08
Guess we know the answer now - 5.05 failed to flash.
We could spend time trying to figure that out, but IMO it's better on the back burner for now
I think the next step is to try the Macrium sleight of hand to get the System Image restored.
I'd like to get the System Image up and running to do the follwoing
- Copy Nick's data to a folder off of the restored System Image C: drive
- run a Belarc Advisor audit to collect license keys for Nick's software
- there might be other data collection that Nick can do in preparation for the final step
The final step is a clean install, install up-to-date MS and 3rd party software, and restore the copied personal data.
Nick was having difficulty locating the outlook files in the System Image - so getting it back running live is the best I can think of.
Thoughts, suggestions, and objections are always welcome and considered

Bill,
Could you elaborate on the Nick's Data? I've already done a Sys Img to G: drive.I think the next step is to try the Macrium sleight of hand to get the System Image restored.

What is a Belarc Advisor audit?
Rebooting now to see if drives stay the same.

Yes, we're almost to the point of actually addressing the core issue of your thread. We tried a few way early in the thread, had to regroup and then the crazy disk order issue consumed a lot of time.
I think Frank has a good suggestion - restart a few times without making any changes to see how the machine behaves - what happens to the drive order.
If the disk order is corrected, great. If not - on the back burner it goes or we'll never get to the core issue.
When we get to the next phase, you'll only want HP ( C: ) connected for most of the process.
The crazy disk order changes consumed too much time and effort - it had to be investigated, but we came up short and you'll have to run the machine the way it is for a while.
Your Outlook files for one, pictures, documents, videos, music for other examples.
Yes, they should be in the System Image - but you need to get them out.
You posted that you could not find the Outlook files you needed when you looked for them in the VHD of the Systrem Image.
So we'll try to workaround the error.
If you tell me that you CAN find the Outlook files (PST & OST) you need in the VHD of the System Image - that would be great.
Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit
It collects system information on a running system - to be of any use, the System Image would be restored using the workaround method (yet to be attempted)
