Please refresh my memory : which drive is the System Image on?
Now that the Active flag has been removed form all but the HP ( C: ) drive, I'd like you to run the machine with ONLY that drive connected. There will be two exceptions when you'll need to connect the external that has the System Image on it so you can work with the image. That will be temporary connect the drive, work with the System Image, disconnect the drive.
I'll walk through the steps later, all I'm asking now is which drive has the System Image.
Thanks
Bill
.
I'm sorry guys, I just got the computer to boot. All I got for a long time was a black screen. Found out that I knocked the power cable loose in video card. I'm calling it a night.

Hi,
I suspect the machine was booted with the external storage drives already plugged in?
No idea why but for some odd reason the Hitachi drive then becomes disk 0.
But where has the system image gone to ? All the external drives seem to be empty now to me???
I thought you had it stored on the Seagate disk. Is it still there ?
The WD external storage drive has a SCSI controller (UAS) but that's no problem.
Cheers,
Frank,
I'm sorry about the time of posting, I've had only 6 hrs. sleep, until last night that is, in the last 4 days, and I crash big time. I've got the C: drive back on Disk 0, finally, and it is the only thing plugged in at the moment.
Yes the Image is still on the Seagate disk, with others too.
Bill, Here is the picture you wanted.
Only C: drive is hooked up to SATA 0

Bill,
I think that I misunderstood you, so was I to take the flag off of the other internal HDD E:? Also, when I tried to eject the WD external HDD, the system said that I couldn't because it was working.
Please verify what I was to do .

You removed the Active flag on the HP_Pavillion ( E: ) a while ago - before Frank walked you though the process on the external drives. Your Disk Management in post# 177 only shows Disk 0 HP ( C: ) so I'm a little confused when you say that you cannot eject the WD My Book.
Other than that - Windows often complains about ejecting a drive saying that it is in use. The only way I've been able to eject a drive when that happens is to wait a few minutes and try again or shut down the machine and remove the USB connector.
Thanks for the picture of the board ... I'll think about that in a moment.
Bill
.
Ok, it's a little difficult to figure out the orientation of the board and match the picture to the Mobo diagram from HP
Add to that, the diagram from HP might be labeled for readability.
I think you have it cabled correctly
But if the labeling is for readability, this might be the correct way to connect the drives. The manual only show IDE drives, not Sata and I couldn't find any explanation of the color coding for the Sata ports. (blue=HDD??? or blue=Optical Drive??? ... orange and tan = ???)
My inclination is to move HP ( C: ) to the tan port marked 0 in the 2nd image.
and Restart
Maybe knowing which port you connect HP_Pavillion ( E: ) would help - this is all very odd and HP only tells me part of the story.
