Windows backup fails with error 0x81000019 on a Mac using Bootcamp

My daughter has a MacBook on which we successfully managed to install Windows 7 using the Bootcamp facility. (Nobody in the family had any experience with Macs so running Windows was seen as the easiest option). I used to run the Windows 7 backup utility for her. (Whether a restore would ever have been possible, I do not know, but that's another question!) Last week, after much prompting, we upgraded it to Windows 10. Everything appeared to go smoothly. However, when I ran the Windows 7 backup utility buried within Windows 10, it failed with error 0x81000019.

I've looked at solutions on the internet, including under SevenForums.com, but few mention having the problem running under Bootcamp. A number involve using tools to change partition sizes. However, the Apple support site seems to infer that one shouldn't use third party tools to change partitions made by Bootcamp. Another solution mentioned assigning a drive letter to the Recovery partition. However, all options seemed to be disabled when I attempted that avenue.

It may be a long shot, but has anyone got any suggestions?

I'll respond to my own thread. I tried various options as found on the internet, such as ensuring that the Volume Shadow Copy service was running, all to no avail. Then I came across the Ed Andersen blog, Windows 10 on Mac Bootcamp fixes (Updated) - Ed Andersen. I downloaded AutoRuns as described, turned off the AppleHFS service, rebooted and reattempted the backup. Success. SO thank you Ed!

It is a shame this still isn't fixed but there we are. Bootcamp 6 drivers are just the same. You can use the free Windows 8 Paragon driver if you need/want to access OSX HFS partitions - it works fine on 10.

I had a problem with the WiFi driver as well but this only applies if you are using Hyper-V.
