Restoring from Restore point - still no luck

After many, many attempts... installs, reinstalls, upgrades, ISO installs, the whole journey, I still cannot get a restore point to restore without messing up! No problem creating, no problem actually restoring, from control panel or boot. But everytime something does not come back right. Last week, no start menu at all! Today, ALL the apps in start screen did the "flash-bang-gone" thing. Even reregistering the apps did not help. I had over 30 errors in event logs after restore re apps.

Only recourse is to reimage from backup.

I'm running dual boot with win 7. I'm beginning to wonder if my MBR is screwed up or something! It is just baffling!

Any insight will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

You'll know it's baffling if it won't boot to 7. :) We won't know for sure until you try. :)

    EDIT

I was just about to tell you that MBR is the easiest to fix when someone on the other thread posted the same fix I do. You better get this USB fixer ready before the need arise. :) Here.
And keep that Macrium Rescue USB for future use.

Thanks for the reply. I have no problem booting to 7. Never tried boot from USB on this box, Dell Inspiron 560. Usually HDD or DVD.

EDIT: Always get the new win10 blue and white dual boot option screen at startup.

I tried a system restore a few day's ago and lost the search function. Then I tried to undo the restore and still couldn't use search. It was just what I needed to get me motivated to do a clean install with the ISO I downloaded from MS. I was going to use a image I made with Macrium but decided to clean install instead.
