I only use one thumbdrive for both my Lenovo desktop and my ASUS laptop. I tested and the Windows kernel default drivers are enough to restore.

Tnx, updated although none of updates it addresses pertain to me, never had those problems.
It doesnt warn about new rescue disk, it says about PE update every time when you make new one.

I don't think a Surface Pro and a Dell 3847 DT are quite that compatible!

Try it once.
For example on my laptop I have intel integrated graphics, and my desktop uses an old AMD R5 235, but the one USB let's me still see on both PC's.
