Read both of those yesterday, it doesn't say whether imaging and cloning can be done while inside Windows which is known as hot imaging.

If you have a HD to clone to, test it, and see if it works.

    I use imaging, i don't use cloning.
From what i see in the help, it might imply the cloning is done while booted into Windows.
If the help screen prints are from a MR Bootup, could a Add Schedule be added ?
Where would the added schedule be saved, and how would it work ?

Anyway, if i wanted to clone, i would test it so i know if it works for me.

I KNOW imaging can be done while running MR in Windows, i do that.

Sure. The link I gave in post # 281 explains cloning and it's pretty much the same whether in the Windows interface or booted from rescue media, i.e., hot or not.

Yeah, couldn't tell if that was the Rescue Media interface or the Windows interface. I know with some cloning software, rebooting is required and on some, one can clone directly inside Windows. Macrium doesn't really mention if it can clone inside Windows or not. Thanks!

Will Macrium Reflect backup to a USB stick or do you have to use a portable hard drive? Can I backup to C drive and then move it to a USB stick? If I place the backup on a USB stick, can I restore it from the stick?

I tried Windows System Image but it did not work.

Yes Macrium Reflect should work to your USB stick, IF its large enough to hold your image backup. I would suggest using external hard drive, or 2nd internal hard drive. Instead of USB port.

Thanks Mike, I will give it a try.

    Greetings everyone:

I finally found some time to clone the drives with Macrium Reflect. I already successfully cloned the 2nd physical 2.5" Western Digital Black Label 750GB HDD to the Samsung 850 Pro 2TB SSD in Windows 10 earlier today using the Forensic Sector Copy method.

I'm now trying to clone the 1st physical 2.5" Western Digital Black Label 750GB HDD to another Samsung 850 Pro 2TB SSD in Windows 10 except ever since my previous posting, there is now a new recovery partition which is between the original C and D drive which was created when Windows Update finally offered and updated me to Windows 10 v1511 Build 10586.14 on November 29, 2015, 34 days after my last in-place upgrade repair install of Windows 10 RTM Build 10240. Am I correct that Windows when doing a in-place upgrade or install will basically take the space of the existing C: partition and repartition to create a new recovery partition while shrinking the existing C: partition?

Anyways, the issue is since the new recovery partition is now between the C and D partitions, I am not copying D as it's empty, it is not allowing me to expand the new copy protection to the maximum size of the unallocated space on the SSD, any suggestions on what I can do so the new C: will use the unallocated space on the new SSD? Screenshots below so it explains it easier.

Go back to start, unselect all source partitions, drag partitions down one by one. After dragging 2nd partition down, RESIZE it BEFORE dragging the 3rd partition down into place. You can review particulars here: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/dis...Cloning+a+disk

Thanks Word Man, I read the page before I asked the question earlier. I basically did copy selected partitions. I see what you mean by dragging the partitions one by one but if I made the 2nd partition use all the remaining available space on the new drive, wouldn't that cause a issue with the 3rd partition as there won't be any space for it or will it shrink the size of the 2nd partition so the 3rd partition will fit?

Also, I noticed 10240 didn't create a recovery partition during the upgrade from Win7 or the in-place repair installs. Only 10586 created the recovery partition, am I correct that the Windows installer will basically shrink the C: partition down and use that space for the new recovery partition?
