Macrium sees all the partitions, even the hidden ones. So, if you tell it to clone the hidden ones as well, it will do it.
Cool, when I cloned drives in the past, the partition was the entire drive but how does it work when there are partitions? Does one have to specify to copy the boot sector as well? My SSD drives have just been delivered and sitting outside the front door according the the FedEx email notification...

Empty space doesn't matter to Macrium if you go with the default settings for clone, it will do an Intelligent Sector Copy, i.e., only those sectors in use get copied to the target.

You can, however, set it to do a Forensic Sector Copy which'll copy all sectors whether in use or not. They note in the options screen that ISC will be used regardless of your settings if the target partition is smaller than the source partition.

On top of that, if you've already cloned once and need to update your clone (due to changes on source drive), it will do a Rapid Delta Clone (if you haven't unchecked that box), only updating the sectors that need updating.
One of my friends system which is left here from a few years ago has Win7 32bit installed, the original drive will boot but the one restore from the image won't as there seems to be a problem with the original drive. Perhaps I should do a clone instead.

When you select the disk (at left) and place a checkmark in the box, it will automatically select all the partitions on that drive. You can then unselect any you don't want. Then click CLONE.

Why not just grab the W7 key and an ISO of W10v10586.11 and use that key to install W10 on it?

Because the system is not the US Windows version, Chinese in this case and then the other issue is I'm trying to save the data files and also need a layout of the Start Menu Programs so I know what to reinstall on the system. Clean install will not work if I want to save the programs and data.

OIC. And the Media Creation Tool (for in-place upgrade) is not available in Chinese, or?
I see Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional and Chinese Traditional Hong Kong available at TechBench.
With an in-place upgrade, you can save files and programs. Of course, I would make an image first...with Macrium!

I can't read all chinese characters so I want to do a clone of that hard drive to a larger one and copy all sectors whether in-use or not so it's bootable. The MCT or techbench ISO would be useless at this time as the system has to be bootable first. The old drive which was running when the system dropped to the floor still boots even now but just hangs at login, the new hard drive which was imaged won't boot at all.

Okay gotcha - I must have missed that part...sorry!
Macrium also has a "fix boot" option that might come in handy after you clone.

No need to be sorry as you're only trying to help... I always thought with Win7 and later, one can install the US English version and then install some language pack and it's supposed to change all the menus to the language of the language pack. Never used MR before so I will be cloning my 750GB to the new SSD first.
