If you click on "Advanced" you should have the choice between WinPE and WinRE.

Larc, follow LittleDude's advice. Before I could use Advanced, though, I had to tell it no on the drivers.

From my working 4325 setup, this is Free Version, Advanced menu > "Choose Base WIM" tab

    Attachment 242748
Thanks, but I don't have Windows RE listed.

Is there any setting I should specify to get the choice?

Did you by any chance removed or deleted your Recovery Partition in Windows? That's where it looks for the WinRE. If not found, it defaults back to PE.

    At command prompt: REAGENTC /INFO

    See what you get.......

That's it! I always remove the Recovery Partition on my non-Insider computers. Both Insider machines have the RE option. Thanks.

Interesting. On a recently created install on an mbr disk it didn't create a recovery partition but stuck the recovery folder with WinRE on the C disk.

Inside the OS itself as a folder. Yeah, I've seen that too. If you do the Reagentc /info on that one, it will show it's pointing to itself. Threw me the first time I saw that.

Actually looking at it again although there is a recovery folder on C it's empty, however the system partition has a recovery folder with WinRE in it and that's what reagentc shows also.

    Repair Install may do it.

A Repair Install usually creates a Recovery Partition. I would do that if the Windows RE mode is significantly better than Windows PE for MR, but is it? I've had no problems using PE, although it is a bit slow loading.
