Question: Anyone ever tried to restore a File & Folder Backup to a different drive?
Restoring a file and folder backup - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase - KnowledgeBase v7 - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase
I am doing one now, and restoring to a new drive T. It won't restore justit has to put the original drive letter as the first folder, so I getCode:T:\Users\Username\*.*in my new drive. I guess, once all data is restored to the new drive, I'll have to move everything before I can use it to replace my old data drive. Kind of annoying. Just wondered if I was missing something obvious.Code:T:\Drive (H)\Users\Username|*.*
No, I have not tried mounting it. I'm in the middle of the restore, so can't try that right now.
Right, that's what I'm thinking I have to do when it's finished. It's just that this is a LOT of data, and I hate to be restoring it manually instead of using the Macrium program for a proper restore....oh well. I'd put a request in to Macrium, but I'm sure I am past the 1-year tech support time.
Yes, that will be good.
Now I have another question:
I have to replace the H: data drive with this new one, because it's failing. What's going to happen with Windows when I
- Shut down the system
- Remove the failing H drive
- Replace it with the new drive, currently designated as drive T:
- Turn the system back on and not have a data drive until I change the drive letter to H:
Is this going to mess me up because I have all my data libraries pointing to a missing drive?
Actually, I have the new T: drive in a hot swap bay, so I could try this:
Go into Disk Management, remove the drive letter from failing drive H: and assign it to new drive T:
Think that will work without giving Windows a heart attack?
