I just plugin my Rescue Disk and then open Macrium. I click on Build and it works fine. I do not reformat the USB stick, just plug it in.

    Thanks for the input Jim.
I guess, as TC said, it must be the formatting of the USB stick (without unplugging it) that most probably causes the error.

...and if that behaviour has changed then it in would be something in the OS that has changed. Any app would have the same problem, not just Macrium.

Most likely Bree. If that's the case it's definitely not a Reflect issue, but a W10 one.
    Remains to be tested...

There was a recent change to the way USB drives are handled in W10, the default now is 'quick removal'...https://www.howtogeek.com/410353/how...on-windows-10/

So maybe put it back to 'better performance' as an A/B and see if it makes any difference?

And then there's Rufus. I believe it formats the USB stick when it does its magic.

I don't need one, but I think I'll make one just to see.

At less than 1GB the MR recovery media is a great use for old small USBs, so no, never tried it....

I'm using Kingston Data Traveler DT50 16GB, that's USB3.1 (1st gen) and is way faster in USB3.1 slot, boots up in couple of seconds. It also works in USB2 slot. So driver for it must be included in MR.

I use the boot option that's on an M.2 NVME SSD, really fast, I mean fast-fast

I haven't needed to use the USB option in years, as when I need to reimage It's because I was playing around(usually drivers) and broke something, or after I uninstalled something, and decided I do want it(with the last settings and whatever data was there).

I have never killed my bootloader, so far, so the boot option is still my prefered "go to".
