I've had it work with and without. Just to be safe, I deactivate first and copy/paste on the install up front. Just my way. If it gets nasty on you, do what Kari posted above.

    Thanks a lot Dick!
No, it doesn't get nasty at all and to be honest that should be the proper way... Deactivate, before clean install and install Reflect again with the same license key.
I just mentioned what happened to my installation in January, just to note that Reflect seems to be forgiving mistakes like mine!

Agreed. I had to spend half an hour with their support once when I had forgotten, and install did not accept my Reflect Workstation key. Next I forgot, i tried the viBoot trick and have been using it ever since.

Doesn't work if you are running Home of course.

Yes, apologies for forgetting to mention that viBoot requires Hyper-V, which means it does not work in Home edition.

You may be able to use VMware or virtualbox though? Would be slightly trickier as you would have to install the image booting from a Reflect drive but in principle it is the same?

In anticipation of the (now delayed) April May 2019 Update I have created a VM of my main machine in order to test upgrading it. I did that by restoring its latest Macrium image to a VM.

To do that I created a new Hyper-V VM and set it to boot from a Macrium rescue ISO. With the networking support built into the Macrium rescue media I was able to restore the image from a share on the Host machine. Something similar should be possible in any VM, I think.

I have not a faintest clue, I am so deeply a Hyper-V fan boy that I have no interest in testing / using VMware or VirtualBox.
