Have now upgraded Macrium to 7.1.3570 and backup is now successful for system partition but when I try and mount it I get a green screen. Anyone else get this? I'm on 1809 18252.1000. Haven't yet tried to restore yet but verify is OK from Win/Marcium (haven't tried from rescue media). Is this still expected until MS fix the underlying issue?
It's a known issue. Not known when MR/MS will fix it.

Thanks. So can I have confidence in the backup in terms of a successful restore?

Personally I have not tried a restore with this version but I think others have. Don't forget that 19H1 is very early in it's development cycle and there will be many new builds before release.

Yes, it does restore successfully. Alternate to mounting it (which will GSOD) is to use your Macrium Rescue Media. Boot from it, and Explore from there. That works fine.

If the backup is validated it's certain to work when restored.

I validate every image. Many folks simply don't bother because it takes valuable minutes away from PC time. Validate is incorporated for a reason, " Why wouldn't users use it"

I let mine validate automagically. Doesn't bother me while I'm doing other things.

I let it validate when finished, if somebody has slow computer, it can be adjusted for priority. A bit slower but can work while doing normal stuff. Can also be set toshut computer down when finished.

A few more minutes during imaging, can save hours, even days of hassle at restore time, if image has problems!
So, ALWAYS use it! It's good for your health!

I have never had an image backup fail in years. I just do not bother as I know MR is so reliable.
