Everything is the same. I am still using the same technology:
Full base image - not differential.
    Same external USB drive 2.0.
    PC otherwise idle.
    HDD
I do not know how to verify the image.

I have downloaded v7. Do I just execute it or should I uninstall v6 first?

You can verify an image on the restore tab. Press the plus sign to get the other actions dropdown. It is the top one.

You can also verify the image when you do the backup. It will approximately double the time to back up. You set it up in advanced options.

As to the upgrade to v7. I've always just installed over the previous one but others have had issues. I would uninstall first to be safe.

For the free version, I would uninstall first between V6 and V7. For the paid version be sure you have your product code handy especially if you clean install.

    Hi there

seems a defect with UEFI boot - ( bootable media) if you create the bootable media on a different machine to the one you want to run the stand alone restore -- get Boot error Microsoft UEFI boot is either missing or incorrect.

This is creating on an AMD machine and booting from an INTEL based laptop. Should always work IMO whatever the machine since surely the whole point of a "bare metal restore" is that the boot media should be able to boot from virtually any reasonable machine.

Running the restore in MBR mode worked though ??? - it restored the disk image OK with GPT / EFI partitions OK.

Tested again --- made the bootable media via RUFUS -- used same two systems -- worked fine. !!

Looks like if you create bootable USB directly it does something with the UEFI file on the machine you are creating it from whereas Rufus seems to have some generalized bootloader which works far more universally.

    Cheers

I'm surprised Macrium hasn't updated yet, what with the new Win10 version and all.

I'd like to see if it works properly in standard 1809 because of those problems with mounting mrimg in Skippy.

Not had any issues with MR in any of the RS5 builds so there may not be an update for this. The next version which is currently in skippy has issues though.

Well, I've successfully made and restored full images in 1809 using 7.1.3317.
