I remember when our IT department had its first automated system for bringing tapes online. A giant robotic arm trundled along a bar and picked up the tape and mounted it on the computer slot. We used to call it the "Juke Box".
Worked for NASA back in the 60s. I can remember the Key Punch Transmittals and the Cards like it was yesterday. The Tapes running and one poor schmuck trying to keep up with all of it sometimes.
Cavemen? Umm, potsherds were good enough for the Greeks and Romans at times...
