We used to call that sort of Networking "Footnet" i.e you physically took a piece of medium out of 1 machine and walked to the other machine and inserted into that one -- those were the days of "Big Blue" IBM mainframes with huge tape reels (still look great in sci-fi films etc) or removeable disc packs that looked like goldfish bowls.

    Cheers

    We called it Sneakernet.

We called it a lot of things but none with polite company.

I remember when our IT department had its first automated system for bringing tapes online. A giant robotic arm trundled along a bar and picked up the tape and mounted it on the computer slot. We used to call it the "Juke Box".

Confirmation that 7.2 will fix the longstanding issue where some pcs can only display in 640x480 mode when using winpe 10.

This was promised ages ago at the TF webinar with the Chairman of Paramount.

I believe it will also have wifi network support as well if TF session promises are kept.

Not sure why anybody would want to backup via wifi though - do people use wifi NAS devices?

Yes, v7.2 contains a workaround for early EFI BIOS implementations that are incompatible with Windows EFI Graphics Output Protocol (GOP).

    Kind Regards

I use WIFI for my Tablet. The tablet isn't to bad on speed of course the working set is quite small. It takes maybe 10min to do a full backup. However as you mentioned earlier, restoration is a different problem. The Desktop and Laptop have external USB3 Hard drives.

I do to. Had one over at the regional phone company. I believe IBM was responsible for it. It really didn't work that well. Several years later we switched them out for a different solution from StorageTek. That one worked great !

Worked for NASA back in the 60s. I can remember the Key Punch Transmittals and the Cards like it was yesterday. The Tapes running and one poor schmuck trying to keep up with all of it sometimes.

Depends on how you look at it - it was far more advanced than any technology for 99.9% of the previous millennia of recorded human history. I imagine a cavemen saying "we used to use stone fragments"

Cavemen? Umm, potsherds were good enough for the Greeks and Romans at times...

    Ostracon - Livius

    - and at least they are readable. Try that with a DVD excavated from landfill in 2000 years...
