    OK thanks Mike :)
It is not always essential to do it, but I prefer to do it as a matter of course - only takes a few minutes, as then I am 100% certain, the recovery drive is 100% compatible with latest backups.

Thanks for the reply, no harm in doing it I suppose :)

Do I re-format the drive or just overwrite it?

    Hi,

No need to reformat, just let MR do its thing.

    Cheers,

Not required, but you may want to consider adding the Macrium Rescue PE Environment as an option on the Boot Menu. Easy to do, and a safeguard/backup if booting from the thumb drive fails for any reason.

Do you mean re-format is not required or redo the USB? Lol

That is a good idea.... I did read that it can be done... add that to my next job

There are two ways to do this - one from Macrium Reflect boot menus that cleverly uses the installation on the C drive.

The other option is to use one used by some here is to create a small partition, copy all the files from Macrium Rescue iso, and create a boot entry. I prefer this personally as I then delete the boot files on the C drive that take up quite a bit of space. Also, if the C drive gets corrupted, the recovery files are not affected. Of course, nothing protects against drives failing, so you still need the boot drive.

Well not sure I agree with that statement, because every update released by MR lately, has had new updated PE files, for both the C-Drive and the recovery drive. USB stick. :)

I agree. And there are other factors that may be involved. If your system has had driver updates and/or any hardware changes, it is important to let Macrium rebuild the PE environment, or there is a risk the current thumb, even though bootable, may not function correctly. And each machine should have it's own Thumb Rescue.
