Can not Backup or system image, Win 10

Some past changes I had made which might have contributed to some disk management issues. This laptop shipped with a 225 gb ssd and a 1tb hard disk. I cloned the C: to a 1 tb mSATA ssd and added another 1 tb mSATA (G:). The eSATA (H:) hard drive is a Graid 3 tb and as I think I understand it shipped with the EFI partition already imbedded. So I really do not know just what partitions I should have on this system

I was unable to delete that partition so I down sized it and was going to extend my H: volume but if I were to extend it it was going to change from a basic drive to a dynamic drive on H. I do not think I was wanting to do that. So I ended up making the EFI partition to another drive volume, J:

I'm at a loss, then. Windows built-in system imaging has always been much too troublesome and unreliable for me to use or trust. I use Macrium Reflect Free. You should be able to delete the first partition on Disk 2 and extend the H: drive partition to fill the empty space. Use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free to do that. I have also found built-in Windows Disk Management to be too limited to do what I want.

I can write to and from the J: drive so I think the disk 2 will not be an issue whether I have two drives on it or not. The problem might lie with a partition on another disk by the indications of the error code it reported. All is working well other than windows not allowing a backup to be made. I did do a back up using Marcrium but I do want to get this issue corrected. Thanks so much for you help and interest. I'll keep muddling along looking for an answer.

I have just discovered I have two different disk formats on my system. MBR disk 1 is my G: drive, all my other disks are formatted as GPT Disks. Not sure what this is going to mean for me but I am going to bed!

I've looked through the thread and see that you did have multiple EFI partitions, however it now seems you have a mixture of GPT and MBR formats and quite a history of upgrades and disk changes which have created various partitions some of which are unnecessary.

This needs to be cleaned up but I can see that for now you just want to get a system image of your OS. When you start the system backup just specify the partitions you want to back up rather than trying to do them all. See if that helps.

I attempted to create a system image with just the C: drive and am getting the same failure

After I changed my backup location to my G: drive I was able to make a successful system image backup. It was the same setup as the backup that just failed when backed up to my H: drive. My G: drive is a ssd 1 tb onboard my computer which I do not want to use as a backup location. My H: external eSATA hard drive has many files on it and is used every time the computer is used with no problems.
