For SSD - Do you disable System Restore and Hibernate?

Yet, system recovery on win8/8.1 is not that different than win10. In addition my SSD is dated from mid 2012 (intel 520 series).

So my question remains... would you mind doing a test with system recovery enabled and run crystal DiskMark and then totally disable System Recovery and try benchmarking again?

No idea if it's still valid, but I have always had mine set to zero since Win7 & Win8.1. I have it on 10 because I'm using the Macrium Reflect boot option, which is the same as dual booting(WinPE environment).

I have always had system recovery turned on with my SSDs as it's needed for Volume Shadow Copy Service(Shadow Copy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
The only things that slow my boot time is my 2nd internal HDD as it is multi partitioned.
I do use "Fast Startup"(Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums)

I don't have or use Crystal Benchmark, because, for me benchmarks mean nothing, sorry there.
As an SSD seek time is zero the problem has to be something else. You have more than enough RAM and an i7,
Have you tried clean booting? With you 3rd party AV turned off?

I think I need to explain again :)

The system recovery I mentioned was not for boot speed. This is general SSD performance. Having system recovery impedes performance from some reason. using ssd benchmark with and without system recovery may reveal that.

The other part was to do with boot speeds. I use the custom view already and measure it to be 25 seconds, while with windows 8 it was 8 seconds :)

Hibernation for me has never been necessary, I usually have my computer either turned off or on

As for Windows System Restore, yeah definitely disable it. When I did, this set me off to find an alternative. I found a few good options. The most one-to-one is Rollback rx. Shadow Defender works really well, and AX64 has some usage, but I found Rollback the easiest to use; and it works really well with my Samsung SSD.

Setting time to zero hides (but does not actually remove) the other boot options.

Minimum to see boot options is 1 second but I find that is not quite enough to react. I use 2 seconds.

I'm retired have a lot of spare time, boot selection set to 5 seconds. I figure that few seconds a week is not too long.

No I didn't and yes I always use hibernate and once a week I shutdown my laptop. I don't care about bootup time. When my laptop is booting up after a restart or shutdown I take a leak or get a cup of senseo mocca.
