Windows 10: Disappearing restore points
Well Tom, the programmers at MS gain enough to perform at their best.
As an example, for months i do not have my Homegroup back and i know by experience that to do so, i always needs to start from scratch.
Do not want to do that. I mentionned this in the feedback several times at MS, no reply, no solution.
Perhaps if you are living in the US, you can bring this up to the top honchos in Microsoft.
They shouldn't be abandoning their users and leave them in the lurch like this!!!
I noticed that restore points can be very volatile. That's why I make images. Those I can control myself.
has there been any resolution to this issue? I face the same on a single boot windows 10.
wptski I don’t do dual booting but I did some research on your issue
There are plenty of ideas but I haven’t seen a single solution yet for native usage.
When you say
“I think that happened after I created an ISO from the ESD file using the well known converter.”
Does that mean that maintaining system restore points on each one of the two OS’s were not an issue before then?
marymmcc check your Disk Space Usage and Virtual Memory
If those settings are ok for you, consider Delete all restore points for this drive to start over and see what happens.
Do you use any optimization programs that maintain backup information on your computer?
My disk space usage 25g and virtual memory settings are OK (6g swap and 4g memory). I do not have restore points to delete. Even when I manually create a point, it disappears if I create another.

Using some defrag programs has been known to cause restore points to vanish as may some cleaning tools.
Is your allocated space too small?
Note: I currently have 14 in 6Gb. (I don't know if that leaves room for more).

After latest windows 10 update I spotted same issue when tried to use restore point. Was someone lucky to figure out solution ?
Also I can´t see option for backing up in disk properties as used to. The one when you right click disk and select tools tab, makes me sad.
I have an install with a low end Celeron-based Acer laptop that serves mostly as a desktop, hooked to a big monitor via VGA cable. Unfortunately the laptop must be opened to get to the power button.

Does anyone else have the problem of restoring from a restore point causing the Start Menu Apps to crash? After restoring from a restore point, every time apps such as Weather, Sports, any Store app requiring communication, crashes. I've been...
I had Cortana and loved her, but she then disappeared and even after reinstalling the Windows Pro 10 preview she has not reappeared. I know that she was not originally in the UK, but I am now on build 9926 and was advised that Cortana was now...
so one has to recreate that. Too bad one cannot go back.
Wanted to use a restore point because all of a sudden my Outlook 2016 is gone. Off course one cannot find this when scrolling down after hitting the left corner and hitting then "all apps",...
I like to have some kind of safety net - a reinstall is always possible but dull. Restore points are one option but I like to have several options since we know that restore points are very volatile.
For the purpose I tried AOMEI OneKey which...
