Holy crap - I had put the partition on same drive as my OS, and turned off pc to carry on today.
The procedure is clearly stated to be used on another HD/SSD, not on your Windows OS drive. To use it with Windows OS drive, you'd have to setup as dual boot.

Yeah I realised that after the event and intended to change that today, not expecting just creating the partition and switching pc off would affect anything.

I still do not understand that. I sent your mail last night, about no need to make partition active on a eufi drive and stopped.

Somehow my pc decided to boot from the Recovery Winpe partition. Even booting from Macrium only showed the Windows 10 drive - nothing else!

Again if you read post #25, middle paragraph, I've already said for GPT disk, there's no such thing as "Active" partition, You cannot set it, only for MBR disk type.

The Forum recommended Macrium Reflect to me and I think you will be impressed. I once used Acronis software which installed low level disk drivers which were very difficult to remove since they were left behind by the Acronis uninstaller. I'm unimpressed by software like this which doesn't clear up after uninstallation.
Steve, I just now saw this, since I'm a user of both Macrium and Acronis, what low level disk drivers did Acronis install? I'd like to be aware of them. Thanks!!

Yeah thanks but I followed that last night when I saw your reply (did not make that clear in my responses above).

I sort of knew this but had forgotten. I had already done the change based on posts before I saw the guide.

Thanks for your time and help.

I will try later one more time using hdd instead.

LoL ...yup, I went from Acronis which I had been using since at least 2007, bought every version to even the latest release. 2015 I think.....to removing Acronis, completely from both my computers, and now I only use Macrium Reflect Free. Also gained at least 200+ megs of space on both my SSD's too boot!! Acronis each year has become VERY bloated and also loaded needless crap into memory. Macrium Reflect just works for me, as I only do complete image backups anyhow. :)
Are you sure you have removed all traces of Acronis software? See http://www.eightforums.com/drivers-h...e-drivers.html

Yes Steve their is not one little trace of Acronis left anywhere on my computer. I used like 3 different programs to uninstall Acronis. Main one is Revo uninstaller Pro, which also removes any leftovers in the registry, then I use my search program called Everything, which will search for any name you put in, or even part of a name on all your hard drives. then I also ran 2 of my other registry cleaners, to double check the registry again. I NEVER trust any program to completely remove all of its files. A lot of programs don't,... not just Acronis. Trust me Steve, their is not one trace of ANYTHING left by Acronis.
I did find all kinds of leftovers bty......all gone now. :)

@DeaconFrost - looks like you opened up a can of Macrium here. Any thoughts/questions on the suggestions so far?
It seems as though I did! I am going to give Macrium Reflect Free a shot. My needs are simple. I just want to be able to create images of several laptops we use at work and restore the image once we purchase new, identical laptops to save time. We store the images on an external drive, but would like to move them to a NAS.

Not assuming anything on how you will try it - just wanted to point out licensing terms for FREE may be different for Business versus Home use - I know the link for Business will take you to a trial version.
