    Hi,

you can then have Macrium Reflect VERIFY the image backup you just made, if it passes, its just fine and will work. :)
    Does that ever fail?

Did anyone mention the life saving importance of having a bootable (and verified) Macrium rescue media (cd or usb) ?

    Cheers,

What I do is create a small 2GB partition with some data in it and check imaging/recovery with that. Granted that this is not a 100% proof that the image of my C partition is going to work. But it proves that the imaging process works in principle.

Never failed on me....not once, and think I already said that earlier fdegrove.
I make ALL my image backups from my bootable usb drive made from Macrium Reflect. You can make your image from your C drive, I just prefer to boot from my MR boot stick....

I tested MR the hard way - I just pushed the buttons and made sure it restored OK.

Wait, uh, I forgot to say, I had an image taken natively on-hand and an image taken with Image for Linux (Terabyte) on-hand before I started.

AOMEI is another option for free imaging (back-ups) which will also verify the image. Personally, I think it's one of the easier ones to use. However, I mean this as another one to use in conjunction with, not in lieu of, Reflect. EaseUS (free) is another.

I, personally, use all three as well as the Windows Imaging utility.

I have restored my system many times using AOMEI and EaseUS. I only recently began using Relect, but I have not used it to restore my system yet, so I really can't comment on how it works. I did read that often people did not create their image properly and therefore many people think they are backed up, when they are not. I'm not sure what they did wrong and I don't recall where i read that article, but just something to be aware of.

I'm also a fan of TrueImage, but I have yet to upgrade since I've gone to Win-10. I've been satisfied with the other free ones, so I'm not sure I will ever upgrade.

    Crazy, huh?

(I even have my Windows Imaging utility to run every night, where I create an entire new image each time.)
