Backup @ Recovery question

Actually the Rescue disk is only about 255MB. In my other post I created a 512MB partition just to give some spare space but you could even create a 256MB partition and it would fit.

@OP
If you have an external 3.5 inch drive. You could put the content of the rescue disk and boot from there, you don't even need a USB/DVD.

This way, you can boot from the HD and also save your backup image on the same drive.

Here's an example of my 120GB external HD. I can boot from it and save the image on Drive J:

Thanks, dual recover/image is a very good solution, but it is easier for me to create them separately, I am more familiar with the process. But in the future I would like to learn how to do it correctly.

That's how I do it and on a relatively fast 64Gb USB 3.0 drive. USB transfer speed is actually better than what HDDs can handle.
If you need lots of real estate for several devices then sure, a HDD or faster SDD connected to a USB 3.0 port will do fine too.

Either way, there are several ways to skin the proverbial cat.

Yep, another reason to put the Rescue files/folders on a separate partition and make it hidden so you won't accidentally delete any files/folders from it.

I have a custom recovery partition on my laptop. It has the WindowsRE recovery environment, the Windows 10 install.wim file for re-installing Windows from the recovery environment, the Macrium Reflect Rescue iso and the MiniTool Partition Wizard iso.
