I didn't use sysinternals accesschk.exe but feel free to do whatever you feel helps you.

Hopefully that solves the issue for you all.

Ok, so I can finally run the backup!

Buuuuuuut it still wont let me save a system image to my secondary hard drive... any suggestions for that? I might have to make a new thread for it.

    Hi,

Could you tell us what the error message says ?

Was the system you're using cloned from a different drive? If so it might be another case of access right which I can help you with.
Otherwise, no idea from the top of my head really.

    Cheers,

Windows 10 is mislabeling my secondary hard drive as a system drive when its not:

Windows 10 Backup Creation: Error (0x80070422)-untitled.png

Windows 10 Backup Creation: Error (0x80070422)-asdf.png

And no, it is not in any way a cloned drive.

    Hi,

No idea why Windows sees it flagged as a system drive but if you have another drive or large enough partition that can hold the data sitting on the WD HD then I'd copy everything across, delete all partitions and (obviously) all data on that WD drive and initialize it afresh.
That should solve the problem hopefully.
Alternatively, you could try to shrink the primary partition on the WD drive, create a new partition from the unallocated space and save your backup to that.

    Cheers,

Those solutions make sense. I'm just gonna have to find another drive to save the backup to.

Thanks for the help though! :)

Edit: Just realized that windows 10 is going to force me to make a system image of both my drives even though I only want a system image of my SSD. ARGH!!!

    Hi,

It's not a bad thing to try and figure out what's going on with Windows Backup.
At least that's what I'd do anyway.
OTOH, should you not be that curious then I'd suggest picking up a free edition of Macrium Reflect.
I find it exceptional in every single way and it let's you back up whatever you want, not what Windows tells you to and much more than that too.

That and a really good partitioning tool (better than MS Disk Management) are the things I always keep within reach.

    Cheers,

Yeah Macrium Reflect is looking very appealing right now...

I actually made a new thread to see if anyone could help me specifically on the system drive labeling that windows does. For reference to anyone reading this thread it is located here:
