A poll on their own Macrium Reflect Forum shows only 7% were in favour of a lease with 68% against, rest unsure. So it is disingenuous to claim many are in favour (implying a majority).

Tbh I’m very disappointed with them saying that it’s what the users want - the poll on their forum suggests differently.

The poll is here: Will you use Version 9 of Macrium Reflect when it comes out if it becomes lease only?

Imo the problem with subscriptions is that you might need several. One isn't that much, but it times "n"...

My email received in 9/19 doesn't say anything about licensing, although it says October 8th 2024. (<- corrected, sorry for the mistake)

The cheapest way to get v10 Home would be to buy a perpetual v8 Home licence now, then exchange it for a free 3 year v10 subscription on release of v10.

If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024...

...Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term.

As v8 had a bit more than 3 years life from release on 17th May 2021 until v10, it's reasonable to assume v10 will have the same. If so, then a 3-year subscription would in practice be little different from having a perpetual licence then upgrading after 3 years. For a single v8 perpetual licence at £57.99 that would get you 3 years of v10 Home at less than £20 per year.

That is the flaw in their pricing, assuming that users will/plan to upgrade every 3 years. Consider the number of users still running v7. Assuming that a perpetual license is not offered then some/many will find alternatives.
