Use VHD as restore media
Just started using a VHD again after 12 years. I've been having problems making a clone of my C: to an external usb drive and having it boot from that drive, so I'm looking for other methods although I will ask for help again on that subject.
Reading that most people like imaging instead of cloning I'm going to try using a VHD as restore media instead of making a restore USB (but I will anyway, just in case).
I will try the following - (already did step 1)
1. Create a VHD clone on another ssd of my C: and added it to my boot menu. It works good. This is my restore media to easily boot if C: fails.
2. Copy my imaging app to the VHD and make an image of my current C: and store it there also.
3. If C: fails, I boot into the VHD, run my imaging app to restore the image to a new C: I have plugged into the m.2 slot.
4. Reboot....Now will it boot into the new C: is the question. I would think yes.
Have I missed anything here?
