    what good for backup

like is hdd or sdd or something else better to backup whole os or computer
why would whichever one be better
is there something in windows that can do that by itself
are there anything that explains everything clearly on a page like books or wiki

    1. To store (save) the backup... SSD or HDD is fine. It doesn't matter.
    2. n/a
    3. Windows does have a backup, but Microsoft recommends you don't use it.
    4. This is the best I've found for "explaining" ...see ALL the links included in this topic's first post...

Backing up has been repeatedly discussed on tenforums-do feel free to search for such discussions.

Briefly, as I've said before- what I do is:

    a. 3rd party disk imaging for at least all O/S partitions- and any others you feel it's appropriate for. You can combine them in 1 big disk image or have 1 for the O/S and 1 or more for 'data'. Up to you.

(and complement disk imaging by scheduled creation of restore points (tutorial available) ).

    b. Complement that with specific targetted data backup for key fast changing data (that you want to back up more frequently than you create an image)- or for data you wish to back up by means other than disk imaging.

I use Macrium Reflect (+ System Restore) and Genie Timeline - which provides versioned backup and runs (mostly) when I plug in the relevant USB disk.

There's no one backup strategy. You choose.
