Backing up one array to a replacement

I'm finally looking at switching out the drives in my array. Right now I have six 3tb drives, and I'm going to three 10tb drives. This is in a Win10 machine. What is the optimal way to do this? I was thinking of taking the spare off the current array, then setting up the new array, and backing up the current array to the new one, and finally removing the old array. The OS is on a separate drive.

Without some specific details it's pretty much impossible to say. Some more information is needed. Things that might help...

Is this a hardware array or a software array?

What kind of array? (Intel, Storage spaces, hardware, etc.)

Also, what array type, (RAID 0, RAID 5, etc.) - this one is critical as there is a huge difference in recommendations and options available to you based upon what type of array you are using.

What kind of physical space for drives do you have? In other words, do you have the ability to have both the existing array of disk and the new array connected at the same time?

How full is your current array?

Any other details you can think of.
