Thank you.... I tested the SSD using the Sata and power cables from the optical drive. It was still not visible. I am returning the as it is brand new and will order another.

Just to add, some drives need initialising before they can be used, perhaps that's why you cannot "see" it:

I didn't check the visibility in the BIOS. I didn't know how to. The replacement is on the way. I will have this thread handy.

I have already sent the SSD back. I have the STARTECH to USB adapter. I plugged it in and low and behold...it shows up in the Device Manager as Fabler2 said with his SABRENT.
I returned the defective SSD and got another. I successfully cloned my HHD to the SSD. I have not yet been able to boot my desktop, Windows 10, using the SSD. I am sure that it is easy if you know what you are doing. The SSD does show in the list of Disk drive in Device Manager. I assume that I am not doing something correctly in the Boot Order configuration.
