    0x80070015 error back again!!

    Hi!

Several months ago I suddenly got the above error when trying to do a system image backup.

The error went away when I retried after several days.

It has returned this morning when trying to do a system backup using the windows 7 function.

Usually prior to a backup, the program shows System Reserved, Main Drive C & Windows Recovery Environment all of which are ticked.

Now only Main Drive C appears & the backup fails with "Device not ready 0x80070015.

I see from the forum that this problem hasn't been mentioned for a while?

Hoping someone can help, & thanks

Hopefully you've been previously advised not to use the legacy Backup and Restore (Windows 7).

MS recommends using updated and supported 3rd party tools instead.

As a matter of course, check your disk(s) - Hard Disk Sentinel (giveaway/functional trial) is excellent- and also assesses communication errors.

Portable version available. Simply run it, look at the GUI.

Noted: no specs on your disk(s), make/model of PC. Desktop? Laptop? Tablet? ....

    Many thanks for your response.

Yes I believe I was warned off this method of backup sometime ago but it kept on working; & a trial restore also worked!!

Time to look elsewhere; wish MS would remove this function; it's too dangerous to rely on!

    Thanks again dalchina

It'll work.. until there's a problem... and then not much support /experience of use...

I repeat the idea of checking your disk(s).

    Macrium reflect/ Aomei Backupper/ O&O DiskImage.. etc

    - free versions, giveaways including lifetime for O&O (except Macrium's free version is no longer developed, and only offers a discount at most occasionally).
