Keyboard and mouse drivers will be installed by Windows 10 don't worry.

Expand everything in the device manager, if there are exclamation marks on devices on these, update the drivers with windows update.
Do a global search in windows update first. On the windows update window do not forget the optional updates. After it's on the lenovo drivers page, download everything but first the intel chipset, then after installing the chipset redo a windows update search.
Do you have any unknown devices with exclamation points?
Edit: For the chipset I meant this drivers on the laptop page: Intel Platform Driver (VGA, Audio, TEXI, Camera, Bay-Tail) for Windows 10 (32-bit) - ideapad 100S-11IBY.
As a last resort, install the optional drivers if there are any from the windows update window.
There are several unknowns, but none with exclamation marks, that I could see.......a closer look tomorrow I think......so will an external keyboard work ?.......
That's it, the unknowns when the drivers are found you will have everything you need. To see if this will be the case for the battery icon.
Yes an external keyboard will work.
In this video, i will help identify the device and find the correct drivers for it.
Create a boot Linux distro USB (Mint is one of the better versions).
Boot from that USB (DO NOT INSTALL !! - it runs from the memory and USB) and test your hardware/devices from that. If it/they don't work, chances are it has/they have had it and no amount of Windows tinkering will solve the problem.
Well, I think I have FINALLY grasped it !! (it's taken me long enough)......IF the keyboard, and the audio device, are NOT showing in Device Manager, then obviously there will be no drivers installed, so pointless trying to update them.......the family member who this Lenovo belongs to has told me to keep it, so going to get an external keyboard, and play around with it......you never know, one day I might get it working properly......Thanks to all for the replies and help.......

SORTED !!.....Downloaded and installed the INTEL driver programme from the Lenovo website.......all now working, keyboard, sound, battery icon, and cursor......what a learning curve !!......well pleased !!
Good its not that difficult once you understand the process i can do it my eyes close haha.
ok nice
Not all laptops have all the drivers installed at the end of the windows installation. You have to do a windows update search, avoid optional drivers at first, and go to the laptop page to take the drivers and avoid the software on its page which can be bloatware.
