Adequate at best - not good.
Restore Comparisons using Macrium Easeus, Aoemei & Hasleo | Windows 11 Forum
Easeus has too many deficiencies - it came out worst of the alternatives I tested, Hasleo was the only one that worked properly for me as a potential Macrium Reflect Free alternative (as a backup tool)..
People should be clear - free versions of any of the tools have limitations.
Even comparing paid versions, none of them come close to Macrium Reflect with Macrium Image Guardian and Rapid Delta Restore.
I've been using macrium 7, now 8, free versions for years. In my opinion the best out there for the GP. Just because it,s going pay (well worth it) doesn't mean your free versions expire and become useless in the near future. I will gladly pay when that time comes though
Yep - think about all the years you have used it free. Maybe it is a good thing to pay a one-off modest sum to reward the company?
If you wait till Black Friday, they usually do 50% off a single licence or the 4 licence pack (already 50% off i.e. 4 licences for normal price of 1).
No guarantee they will do same offer but my bet is they will to encourage as many free users to move over to paid version. If not, you still have a month or so to decide what to do.
Since Macrium announcement of suppressing the free option I'm in the process of looking for alternative.
I'm currently using it on 4 PC (mine, my wife's, my mother and another relative). It's a typical home usage.
Switching to paid version looks pretty expensive (€115.90 according to Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect for Home Use) and it's not a lifetime licence (looks that even upgrade price from previous major version are not low.)
What could be the better option for my usage then?
Confusion is running amuck. I got the latest free Macrium reflect. Man is it different. In the past when MR generated a backup file it only did one file. This latest version generated two files. I am NOT sure how that works.
I also created what I think is a rescue disk (used a CD). The only way I know how to test to see if it works is to boot the PC using the rescue disk.
I would do this by putting the rescue disk into the PC, then shut down. I would then start the PC and continueously pressing the
F2 key until the PC started to boot from the rescue disk. This did NOT work; so far I have not been able to get the PC to boot using the rescue disk. I have NO idea what I am doing wrong. BTW this is an HP PC with windows 10.
Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks
