Here's what I do. After any major upgrade (that's a full build upgrade, not an enablement package), many system files change.
That's when I start a new sequence of disk images, using a new folder for that set of image files on my backup disk, appropriately named. That of course is when I also, as prompted by Macrium, create the retention rules.
Thereafter I create differential images periodically as I showed in my screenshot.

I assume you mean a context menu seen when rt clicking an image file. I've never tried that. That would mean navigating to the appropriate file.. I find it easier to do what I showed for differential images- do whatever you prefer if it amounts to the same thing.I go to existing backups and I create differential here and for full backup use "Backup Windows" context menu
Note that if you had a license for MR you could ask questions in their forum.
